This part of the collection is split into three sections. Predecimal, Decimal and Sets. With the Predecimal collection, it concerns all circulating dated coins up to 1967, (apart from gold) The oldest dated coin I have so far is the 1567 silver sixpence.

Decimalization in Great Britain took place over three years. 1968 - 1971. From February 1971, all but three of the pre-decimal coins were demonetized leaving the sixpence, and the 1 and 2 Shilling coins. The sixpence had an equivalent value of 2.5 new pence, and was demonetized in 1980. The other two continued to circulate as 5 and 10 Pence coins until 1990 and 1992 respectively when the new coins were reduced in size.

Click on the links below to see coin lists and photos of my coins from both eras.

The sets option displays a list of all the British un-circulated mint sets that are in my collection. Same applies to the proof sets link for British proof sets.
